'HAMMY' - LILLEY PAIRING SET TO FACE DONS

16th March 2001

Manager Alex Smith is looking for a continuation of the 2001 revival when Aberdeen visit Tannadice on Saturday. United have lost only once this year and Alex knows a win against the Dons would represent another important step towards SPL safety.

"If we do win we know we will be at least three points ahead of St Mirren with another game chalked off the calendar", he said. "To do that we will have to continue the form of the last couple of months because Aberdeen got a good result against Hibs on Tuesday and they will be up for this game."

Alex will leave the decision on whether Tassos Venetis or Tony Smith replace the suspended David Hannah until just a couple of hours before kick-off. He has also been considering giving striker Paul Robinson his first start, though it looks likely Jim Hamilton and Derek Lilley will be given the chance to continue their successful partnership.
