WIN OVER RANGERS BRINGS CUP JOY

11th March 2001

United stormed through to the Semi-Finals of the Scottish Cup with a 1-0 win over holders Rangers which was far more convincing than that score normally suggests. From the first minute to the last every United player contributed to a tremendous team effort which resulted in their opponents being out-performed in every facet of the game.

The United side which has simply got better and better since the end of November were given a wonderful reception by an ecstatic United support who four months ago could not have envisaged such a result or display.

The Semi-Final draw took place at Tannadice immediately after United's triumph and the first two balls selected from the bowl means that it is the other half of the Old Firm who stand between United and an eighth Scottish Cup Final.
