United's re-arranged SPL fixture at Aberdeen has been given another new date. The Pittodrie meeting for Tuesday March 20 has been cancelled due to players' international commitments, and has now been rescheduled for Wednesday April 4. That change means the prospect of playing the Dons twice within three days has been avoided - Ebbe Skovdahl's men visit Tannadice on Saturday.
With that fixture in mind, several first team squad members were pencilled in for involvement in United's closed-door affair at Arbroath on Wednesday. The list included the three Davids - Partridge, McCracken, and former Celtic man Hannah who is keeping up his match sharpness due to a forthcoming two-game suspension. But having played a part in Monday's under 21 win at Dunfermline, injury-comeback man Stephen Wright was not listed in the squad.
Boss Alex Smith explained, "Stephen must not be asked to do too much too soon. I don't want an adverse reaction at this stage of his comeback. "His involvement at East End Park on Wednesday is enough for this week."
