Tannadice youth-product Craig Easton's recent quality performances in United's midfield have been rewarded by a recall to the Scotland Under-21 side.
Having missed out on the international scene through injury, fit-again Eastie will play from the start on Friday against the Belgians at East End Park and the Airdrie-born ace may mark his return by again being named as captain - although gaffer Alex Smith has not yet announced who will skipper the side.
While Smith and assistant Maurice Malpas take temporary leave from Tannadice to embark on Scotland duties, another member of United's coaching staff, Paul Hegarty, is carrying out his international responsibilities as a coach with the Under-16 team. The youngsters are currently involved in a UEFA triangular qualifying tournament in the county of Angus - with Wales and Norway providing the opposition.
Heggie has also kept his club duties in focus, by inviting United injury comeback men Jim Paterson and Jamie Fullarton to join him - the pair are getting fitter by the day. That leaves John Blackley at home base, keeping an eye on training. "The lads have been working hard and I put them through a double stint to keep them in check during the layoff," Blackley said.
