The disappointment felt by Tannadice pair Charlie Miller and Jamie McCunnie at missing this coming Monday's vital league visit to St Mirren was eased on Tuesday when both received international recognition. Scotland boss Craig Brown has named Charlie in the full squad for the friendly in Poland on Wednesday week, while Jamie's call came from his Club boss Alex Smith.
Alex, of course, doubles as Scotland under-21 Manager, though United's game next week means Killie's Bobby Williamson will be in charge for this trip. He had no hesitation in rewarding Jamie's excellent form since Christmas with a first call-up and was just as delighted for Charlie. "He has worked very hard and has been superb since he arrived here last year and he deserves this call. As for Jamie, he has performed at a consistently high level since he broke into the first team and I know he will do a good job if he plays in Poland."
Meanwhile, Jim Paterson is on course for a first team place before the end of the season after continuing his come-back with 25 minutes of last night's Under-21 victory over Hibs at Tannadice.
