United fans and well wishers will get the chance to give United a rousing reception on both Sunday 15 March and Monday 16 March 16 if the team successfully bring home the Scottish League Cup on Sunday.
Upon success, Tannadice will be open on Sunday evening (George Fox, Eddie Thompson and Jerry Kerr stands) to allow fans to herald the players and staff who will be presented onto the pitch.
On Monday evening at 5.30pm, there will be a celebration in the City Square and the team will be escorted down Reform Street by the 6th/8th Dundee Boys’ Brigade Pipe Band.
This will give opportunity for supporters and well wishers to see the trophy and allow as many people as possible to join in the hoped for celebrations.
Lord Provost Bob Duncan said: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish Dundee United every success in the Scottish League Cup Final on Sunday.
“We are extremely proud of the team’s efforts in reaching this stage and we are all hoping that they can bring the cup back to Dundee.
“The club has already brought great honour to the city and I would like to send my best wishes to the team ahead of the final.”
Dundee United Director Derek Robertson said: “We’d all like to stress that these are contingency arrangements only and that we’re taking nothing for granted nor making any assumptions about the result.
"Obviously, however, we’re all hoping that the cup will come back to Dundee and, in view of the amount of planning and external bodies involved, it is necessary to have these contingency plans in place well ahead of the time.”
