HOME DRAW WIDENS THE GAP

7th April 2001

A 1-1 draw with Hearts today at Tannadice coupled with Celtic's defeat of St. Mirren means United are four points ahead of bottom club St. Mirren at the 33 game stage.

Apart from a fourth crucial clash with the Paisley Buddies, United now know their other four post-split opponents will be St. Johnstone, Motherwell, Aberdeen and Dunfermline Athletic; the venues for these games will be announced by the SPL on Monday 9 April.

The four-point gap could have been greater as United created plenty of chances against top-six Hearts and also missed a penalty but they go into the last five league games of the season in a better position than many would have dared hope just a few weeks ago - and there's also a cup semi-final to look forward to.
