Assistant Manager Simon Donnelly spoke of his delight at taking all three points from Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Hamilton.
Simon felt that the fortune which shone on United on Saturday was a long time coming and was major boost to the players ahead of the upcoming pursuit of Inverness CT in the Scottish Premiership table.
Simon said, “That was the result we have been looking for. The boys have got the smiles back on their faces and we are now looking to catch Inverness. We have one game in hand and two games against them so it should be all to play for.”
Ahead of the visit to Pittodrie this coming Saturday to play Aberdeen, it was also felt that the result would ensure a more expressive team over the coming games.
“Everyone has felt the pressure of not winning games and that showed at times but most importantly the boys stood up and put in a strong team performance. To a man, no one let us down and getting the three points was pleasing.”
When asked about the heroics of goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak, Simon said the big Pole had earned his praise on Saturday.
“Rado was excellent. He's been a crucial member of the team and made three or four saves that were vitally important. He's a true professional and he showed great character after his mistake in the derby to put in that performance and played a massive part in helping us secure the three points on Saturday. We can now look forward to the visit to Pittodrie with some confidence.”
