The Tangerines' support is set to follow, follow their favourites in numbers when Alex Smith leads his side west for a Tennent's Scottish Cup semi-final date with Celtic at Hampden Park on Sunday week.
Just two days into United's ticket allocation going on sale to the Tannadice season ticket holders, around 5000 were snapped up. And Cup fever gripped the Tannadice ticket office in midweek when they went on sale to the general public. That led to the Club's allocation for the West Stand selling out, although tickets are still available for the family section in that area.
United's main representation at Hampden will be in the South Stand, where the vast majority of their estimated 12,000 ticket allocation will be housed. As a Club official said: "So far we have had an extremely encouraging response by the fans, with every indication that we will take a big support to the tie".
