ROBINSON DOUBTFUL FOR SEMI

11th April 2001

With Sunday's Tennent's Scottish Cup Semi-final against Celtic at Hampden Park looming ever closer, there is growing concern over the availability of on-loan striker Paul Robinson.

The striker, stretchered off in last weekend's 1-1 draw with Hearts at Tannadice, has been under constant medical supervision since then in a bid to get him fit for the big occasion. Prior to the squad's trip back home from their West Coast headquarters, Robinson trained away from the full squad, alongside Charlie Miller and Jim Hamilton.

Happily, the last-named pair have now been pronounced fit for a tie for which United are growing in confidence. As central defender Jim Lauchlan said, "We fancied ourselves strongly in the last round against Rangers because at that stage they were on a bit of a downer. The opposite is the case as far as Celtic are concerned, after all they have just been crowned League Champions. But you are not going to win cups without having to face the Old Firm and we are going well ourselves at the moment".
