UNITED had barely touched down in Netherlands and they were on the training field for a session ahead of tomorrow night’s game versus Vitesse Arnhem under the watchful eye of Jackie McNamara. Around two hours after landing on the runway the team were booked in and raring to go.
Each training session, the players will ride around one km from the hotel to the training base before being put through sessions overseen by Manager Jackie McNamara and his coaching staff. The players are wearing the new GPS equipment which helps sports science staff optimise the workload for each individual.
ArabZONE spoke to Jackie during the session and the manager spoke about the quality of the complex on first view.
Jackie said, “First impressions are that it is an excellent facility. It is ideal for the kind of work we want to do out here. It is about fitness and being ready for the first game of the Ladbrokes Premiership campaign.
“Tomorrow night versus Arnhem will give me an opportunity to use all the 20 outfield players we have in the party and that is my plan currently. We have five tough pre season games lined up, albeit one is still to be confirmed, and the purpose is to ready for the Aberdeen game.
“The team will be doing intense work and we will see the benefit of that once the campaign begins.
"The GPS equipment is a major step forward for us because we can optimise each individual players to their own requirement with a view to hitting peak performance on match days. The information you can extract with the device is excellent and will help the players to structure their performance correctly."
A full interview with Jackie can be viewed on
ArabZONE later this evening.
Tomorrow will see the team complete a session before heading off to the game in the afternoon.
