Luis Zwick will start in goal tonight against AZ Alkmaar. The German shot stopper recently signed a professional contract with the Club and is currently fighting it out with Michael Szromnik and Marc McCallum for the starting goalkeeper’s jersey ahead of the Ladbrokes Premiership campaign.
Confirming the news, Jackie said, “Luis will get his opportunity tonight. His rate of development has been impressive and he’s done well in the recent game versus Arbroath. Tonight will be another test for him but these challenges are part of why they are professional footballers.
“As I mentioned last week I have my thoughts on who is currently at the top of the list but there is still time for each to prove they deserve to start. Luis has the gloves tonight and he will be looking forward to it. I have great confidence in him.”
The game against AZ Alkmaar is sure to prove another test in the Netherlands training camp but, with fitness and preparation for what is ahead the most important, the Manager will again use the fixture to ensure a run out for his squad.
He stated, “The players have put in a power of work this week already and will again wear the GPS vests during the game tonight. This will allow us to monitor the workload of each player and analyse where their individual fitness levels are.”
The game kicks off at 7.00pm (CET) in Dirkshorn and updates will be available on the Club’s match day twitter account and Facebook channels.
