DUNDEE UNITED is delighted to announce it has extended the contract of Scott Fraser for the next three years. The midfielder is now tied to the Club until May 2018.
A product of the Dundee United Youth Academy, Scott joined United in 2006. After securing a professional contract in 2011, a bad injury hampered his progress at Development level before his first team début in a 3-1 defeat to Celtic in May 2014.
Farmed out to Airdrieonians FC on emergency loan in October 2014, Fraser earned outstanding reviews for his performances under Airdrie manager, and ex United defender, Gary Bollan. In January 2015 his successful loan period was extended until June and Scott completed the season at Airdrie as the ‘Diamonds’ narrowly missed out on promotion play offs.
Scott joined the first team squad for pre season 2015 and, after playing a part in all five pre season games, was an unused substitute versus Aberdeen in the opening game of the Ladbrokes Premiership campaign.
Scott Fraser declared: “I am very happy to extend my time at Dundee United, the club that has helped me progress to this stage of my career. I know the Club will give me the opportunity if I merit it and I am proud to be part of the future here. I can now concentrate on my football development and give my best for Dundee United and the supporters.
Jackie McNamara, Manager, said: “Scott has always shown exceptional attacking ability and during his loan spell at Airdrie he added another element to his game from playing in League One. The improvement he has shown and his willingness to learn has really impressed me. I believe Scott will be a big player for United over the next few years and it is important that we got his contract signed. The fans will enjoy what he produces for the first team.”
