United were defeated by Hearts this afternoon at Tannadice, a first half Juanma Delgado penalty sealing all three points for the visitors.

In Paatelainen's first selection as manager of the club, only three changes were made to the side that lost to Partick Thistle two weeks ago, Aaron Kuhl, Mark Durnan and Billy Mckay returning to the starting eleven in place of Coll Donaldson, Ryan Dow and the injured Euan Spark.
First half
It was the visitors who opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 15 minutes, Blair Spittal chopping down Nicholson inside the box, and Juanma Delgado was at hand to convert from 12 yards.
Throughout the first period United struggled to really carve open the stubborn Hearts defence, however, with a minute to go before the break, Neil Alexander fumbled a John Souttar cross, although Darko Bodul was unable to divert an effort on target.
Second half
Through Adam Taggart's half-time introduction, United did begin to threaten the Hearts defence, Aaron Kuhl's free-kick with twenty minutes remainingĀ dipping slightly too high of the crossbar.
Early into the six minutes given of injury time, Blair Spittal was shown his second yellow of the afternoon, tripping Sam Nicholson just as the Hearts midfielder was about to burst into the United half on the counter-attack.
Although United began to really pile on the pressure in the last few minutes, the Jambos held on for what was arguably a deserved victory.
