Match Preview

22nd April 2016

United have an absolute mountain to climb in their bid to retain Premiership status. By Gareth Scott Eight points behind with five games remaining means that Sunday's visit of Hamilton Accies is a must win. By the time the game kicks off at 3pm we will know where we stand as Kilmarnock have a lunchtime kick off in Inverness. Arabs everywhere will be hoping that Caley can do us a huge favour and that by the time 5pm arrives that the deficit is down to five points. United are in unfamiliar territory after eight top six finishes in a row but this is a real serious situation and the facts are that, to stand any chance of staying up, five wins out of five are required and even then we are relying on favours. A remarkable statistic is that from the six wins this season there has only been one win against teams in the bottom six, therefore things certainly need to change. Hamilton have also had a tough season but are in a strong position to stay up and they will be on a high after a great win against Dundee the last time out. United have only managed to take a single point from the three games against Accies this season and that was down at New Douglas Park in February when a late Kawashima penalty save secured United a point. The last time United hosted  Martin Canning's side they battered the visitors only to lose out 2-1. Sadly United lost out at Hampden last Saturday, but no one can dispute that the better side on the day went out and hopefully the players can take heart from that. There will be a doubt about the fitness of Coll Donaldson, whilst Guy Demel and Paul Dixon performed really well as substitutes against Hibs and they will surely be in the Manager's thoughts. C'mon United !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ticket Info:  Season ticket holders have the opportunity to invite a friend for absolutely free! With only five games remaining and United eight points behind Kilmarnock in the Ladbrokes Premiership, your support is vital in the battle to secure premiership safety. Due to demand, we would ask that this exchange is made prior to 1pm on Saturday.
