Two wins from two for Caretaker Manager Laurie Ellis as United win to move level on points at the top of the Championship table.
By Tommy McKay
If this is to be Laurie Ellis’s last game in charge of Dundee United, he signs off undefeated and with the team level on points with St Mirren at the top of the Championship table.
The large crowd inside Tannadice were treated to a spirited, professional performance from their team and were shown that despite the lack of a permanent manager there are a lot of positives in this United team.
After Fraser passed up a fantastic chance to give United the lead, it was his free kick which was headed into the top corner of the net by Mark Durnan on 11 minutes.
He was also involved in United’s second. After collecting Fyvie’s cross at the back post, his lay-off found Stanton who fired past Samson on 79 minutes.
Eckersley pulled one back for Saints with the last kick of the game but the result was never in question.
Man of the Match: Mark Durnan - Despite conceding with the last kick of the game, United’s defence was on top for the majority of the game and rarely looked threatened by one of the league's highest scorers.
