Tannadice will play host to the nationwide Stand Up To Cancer campaign at our home game versus Dunfermline on Saturday.
Both sets of players will warm up in designated T shirts and volunteers from the local Relay for Life group will be in attendance around the stadium with information leaflets and collection buckets. Supporters who make a donation can pick up one of the campaign’s S↑2C pin badges or wristbands, available, appropriately enough, in both tangerine and black!!!
Managing Director Mal Brannigan stated: “We are thrilled to welcome Stand Up To Cancer to Tannadice. It’s a perfect fit: the timing, coinciding with the Channel 4 appeal; the colours of the campaign, tangerine and black; the direction of travel: up! As to the cause, every family is bound to have unfortunately been affected by cancer at some stage, but in many cases the disease can now be treated thanks precisely to those advances in research, the continued need for which we are highlighting today. I am sure the United family will give this campaign its full backing.”
Local Fundraising Manager Carrie Lennon said, “Cancer is unforgiving, unpredictable and relentless. But by standing up to it and raising money for research, we can beat it at its own game. That’s why we’re encouraging everyone in Dundee to get involved, from buying a special Stand Up To Cancer wristband or pin badge, or even organising their own fundraising events or challenges: from a bake sale, fancy dress days, to challenging your friends to a football tournament. However you choose to Stand Up To Cancer, you’ll be helping to raise crucial cash for life-saving research. There’s power in numbers and if we all work together we can defeat anything, even cancer.”
Stand Up To Cancer is a fundraising campaign that brings the UK together to speed up progress in life-saving cancer research. From transforming radiotherapy into a precise, anti-cancer weapon to developing new ways to stop cancer cells from spreading around the body, the appeal is supporting 52 clinical trials and research projects that will help bring new treatments and technology to people with cancer – ultimately saving more lives.
