Dundee United is delighted to see our Head of Stadium Operations Graeme Anderson honoured with an MBE for services to policing events in the New Years’ honours list.
Graeme, who retired from the police force in 2020 having acquired 30 years police service, worked for many years as lead planner for Tayside Police and then Police Scotland, and was primarily based in Dundee. He covered events such as G8 at Gleneagles, Radio 1 Big Weekend, The Ryder Cup, British Open Golf Championship, TITP, Slessor Gardens concerts, the opening of the V&A Dundee, Royal and VIP Visits to the city, the Olympic Torch Relay and Concert, and the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay.
Graeme also has worked in partnership with both Dundee and Dundee United FC to deliver secure and safe matches since 2000.
Upon his retiral from the Police, Graeme enhanced his role at Dundee United and recently was promoted to the role of Head of Stadium Operations.
Speaking about his MBE, the life-long United fan said, “It’s a huge honour for me to receive an MBE and I’d like to thank all those people I’ve worked with over the years who helped to make events in Tayside safe and successful. Special thanks go to my wife Lynn, who without doubt deserves the award far more than I do.”
