SUMMER REGENERATION WORK UNDERWAY

20th May 2024

Tannadice Park is undergoing significant regeneration work ahead of the new season with Premiership football back for the 2024/25 season!

The playing surface will undergo its annual restoration under the guidance of new Head Grounds Person, Sam Mercer, who is working closely with Turf Care Specialists Allgrass.

This project, the first of several improvements around the stadium as we look forward to welcoming fans back to Tannadice, has been ongoing since the conclusion of our title-winning cinch Championship campaign in early May.

Introducing Sam Mercer

Sam brings a wealth of experience from his time in the English Football League to DD3. Joining us from Accrington Stanley, Sam has previously worked at Wigan Athletic, Stoke City, Blackburn Rovers and Rochdale Football Club and also has experience in the golf industry.

Sam commented: “I am excited to be joining Dundee United and moving with my family up to the Dundee area. I have been made to feel welcome both in the club and in the city. This is a huge club and I've thoroughly enjoyed my busy start to life at Tannadice.

“The work commenced last week and already you can see the growth. Like everyone else, I am excited about the new Premiership campaign and I cannot wait until the fans are back in here and watching games.

"The pitch here has a high reputation over recent years and it's fantastic to see everyone at the club pushing for us to have an elite-level surface for some huge fixtures in the 2024/25 campaign.

Key Dates

United fans have already shown unwavering support, with over 5,500 Arabs securing their seats for next season.

Some further stadium enhancements - aimed at improving supporters' matchday experience - are planned throughout the close season to ensure a fresher Tannadice welcomes back our supporters. Further details will be announced in due course.

Our Premier Sports Cup campaign will begin on the weekend of 13/14 July, with the draw for the group stages due to take place in the coming weeks.

We sealed our return to the Premiership with a mammoth 75 points at the first time of asking, and we can look forward to our return to the top flight on the weekend of 3/4 August.
