Dundee United midfielder Lewis Fiorini spoke to the broadcast media to preview our William Hill Premiership clash with Rangers on Sunday.

Our new number eight discussed his first week in the city of Discovery, what he can bring to a successful side, jumping straight into the action and more!

ON HIS FIRST FEW DAYS AT TANNADICE:

It's been a good first few days. The day I signed, Monday, was a bit of a whirlwind, driving up and then being involved in the squad for the game.

Unfortunately, that didn't go as we planned but my first few days training with the lads have been great and I’m looking forward to a big game on Sunday.

ON WHAT HE CAN OFFER THE TERRORS DURING THE RUN-IN:

For me, it's about me playing games again and getting back to my best. I can add goals to the team from midfield and bring some real quality, whether that be with assists, goals, or whatever it may be.

I hope the team continues to do what they've done throughout the season and win games.

ON WHAT HE HOPES TO GET OUT OF THE EXPERIENCE:

I'm here to kick on again and test myself in Scottish football. I've not played in the Scottish Premiership yet and it's been something that I've been close to doing throughout my career. I’m excited to take on the challenge.

ON PLAYING AT TANNADICE ON INTERNATIONAL DUTY:

I played here twice in a week, and we trained at St Andrews as well, so I'm familiar with a bit of the area and I've got some good memories here already. Hopefully I can make some more!

ON MAKING HIS MARK WITH UNITED:

That's got to be the aim for me - first of all, do well for Dundee United. I want to help us finish the season strongly, I know the club have targets that they want to achieve. So if I can help facilitate that, then, for me, that should put me in a good place come the summer to either be in a better position at Stockport or assess my options.

ON BEING INVOLVED IN A FIXTURE OF THIS MAGNITUDE:

It's exciting for me to come in this week, you couldn’t have picked two better games. Monday night probably would have been a lot for me to play, having travelled up from Manchester, but just to get that experience was great.

Seeing the fans at the end after a disappointing result against your rivals appreciate the lads' effort shows how unlucky we were and how well we did.

It’ll be a massive game on Sunday here at Tannadice - bring it on!

ON SEARCHING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY IN THE TOP FLIGHT:

I've had some real good options in Scotland when I’ve gone to other clubs or I've wanted to come here and then it fell through for different reasons and it’s just not quite worked out. But this one felt good, it felt right.

I had other options down south, but this was a really good opportunity to play under a manager who spoke so well and play for a team that's clearly flying in the league.

It always helps when you’re coming into a dressing room that's winning rather than one that’s losing. I just want to be part of that and help us kick on again.

ON TAKING INSPIRATION FROM OUR SUCCESSFUL LOANEES:

If you look at the team, the manager spoke of the success that some of the young lads and the loanees have had that have come up from England as well - that's something that I aim to do as well.

ON BEING READY FOR THE CALL OF DUTY:

In the training sessions I’ve had so far, I’ve felt really good. Even throughout the season during my time at Stockport, albeit my minutes have been limited, but when I've played I'm fit. I’m ready to make my mark!
